Gala Hill is a small hill rising behind Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, a popular place for walkers (with and without dogs), horses with riders, and youngsters with mountain bikes. Although a lot of it is conifer forest, the fringes are mostly beech woods, at their best in autumn.
