Image no. KA11 By now (2006) these Kashmiri children will be in their late twenties or early thirties, and the innocence of childhood will have gone, blasted away by gunfire and bombs. They are part of India's muslim inheritance, and they would almost certainly prefer to be part of Pakistan where they could practise their religion in peace. But India clings to its half of Kashmir, possibly for economic reasons - a desirable income from tourism - but since 1989 tourism has been dead. So what's the point of it all? |
