The photo shows the bark of an elderly Scots pine tree, overlooking the Falls of Bruar in Perthshire.     The texture in the bark of these old trees is worth emphasising, which is why I fiddled with the colours, to make something vaguely resembling a painter's palette. Note the fallen pine needles, caught in the crevices.
