"I have had endless hours of fun, dreaming about past and future walks with the Climber program." - from User comments.

Climber2 - Map options

The Area maps included in the program cover the main mountain areas of the UK, where there are hills over 750m in height. Other areas, such as the Pennines and Peak District and Scottish Lowlands show hills of 600m height.

Additional hills added by the user can also be displayed in the maps, if applicable.

  • The map shown is a section from the SW Lakes area map.
  • Placing the mouse on any hill (the circles) reveals the name of the hill (see Coniston).
  • Hill info for any hill can be accessed directly from here.
  • Distances can be found by clicking along a route.
  • The maps can be zoomed in and out.
  • Routemaps for Logs are created by zooming into the area wanted (see below).

Creating Routemaps to include in the Logs.

  • Zooming into the map by clicking (right-click to zoom out) allows the required area to be selected.
  • Using the "Move Map" buttons makes it easy to select the actual part of the map that is required.
  • Text in the Area maps is kept to a minimum, so that you can position the text you want, where you want it it.
  • Each Routemap relates to a specific Log, but the same approach is taken for "Route Planning" - to calculate likely distances, heights, and times for proposed routes - but not attached to any Log.
  • When the required area is selected, clicking the "Map OK" button accesses the screen for building the Routemap.
  • Click here to see Routemap facilities.
