Climber2 - LOG Menu

On-screen Log

  • The logs created can be viewed on-screen, as shown opposite.
  • Logs are accessed first by selecting the year (under "List Logs"), and then by the date, and are displayed as shown.
  • Personal photos relating to any log can be included within the log (as shown), or viewed at full-screen size.
  • Additional photos can be seen by clicking on the image on screen.
  • The Diary can be expanded (see the button below it).
  • All hills and tops ascended are shown.
  • Total height, distance and time on hill are also shown.
  • Details of scrambles, rock-climbs or ice-climbs can also be shown in panel below header.

Log Printouts

  • Logs can be printed on any standard Windows ink-jet printer (not laser or post-script).
  • The layout of the print is under user control, by means of a "layout" screen.
  • Photos can be selected, dragged on to the layout and re-sized as required.
  • Captions can be assigned to each photo.
  • Routemaps included in the log can also be added to the page.
  • Photos and routemap can have box outlines (as shown) or drop-shadows.
  • Font styles and colours can be selected for each section of the layout.
  • Printouts can be spread over multiple pages to accomodate long diaries, or numerous photos.
  • Diary text can be inserted from other programs (eg:Word) using Copy and Paste.
  • Conversely, all the text data in the Log can be exported to a text file, for use in any Desk-top Publishing program (to provide more versatility in printing).

Log Routemaps

  • Routemaps (shown opposite at actual size) are created within the Climber program, using the Area Maps provided.
  • The required section is taken from the Area Map, zoomed to include the relevant area.
  • A range of drawing and text options allow the map to be captioned as shown.
  • Actual routes are drawn by clicking the mouse at points along it.
  • Arrows, tents, bothies and other shapes, in selected colours, can be added if required.
  • Distance covered and approx heights ascended are calculated (with a little input from the user).

Ascents

  • All hills climbed (or attempted) and recorded within the Logs,can be listed in order of date.
  • The listing can show the hill names, together with names of companions, and an extract is shown opposite..
  • Ascents that only feature a selected companion can also be displayed.
  • ...and ascents showing ascending totals for each hill category.
